The Via Francigena is the common name of an ancient road and pilgrim route running from France to Rome, though it is usually considered to have its starting point on the other side of the English Channel, in the cathedral city of Canterbury. As such, the route passes through England, France, Switzerland and Italy. The route was known in Italy as the "Via Romea Francigena" ("the road to Rome that comes from France"). In medieval times it was an important road and pilgrimage route for those wishing to visit the Holy See and the tombs of the apostles Peter and Paul. In the Middle Ages, Via Francigena was the major pilgrimage route to Rome from the north.....

Another possibility is the hot springs of Terme della Via Francigena (about one hour away) and the spectacular Bagno Vignoni e Bagni San Filippo in the heart of Val d’Orcia.

Located in the heart of Chianti and the medieval town of Castellina, the museum recounts the ancient history of the Chianti area by means of archeological materials and data gathered in the four municipal territories on the Siena side of this region: Castellina, Gaiole, Radda and Castelnuovo Berardenga. Not far from Castellina in Chianti is the great Etruscan burial mound of Montecalvario. It was built at the end of 7h century B.C. and contained the tombs of an aristocratic family of extraordinary wealth. On the hill east of the medieval village of Fonterutoli are the remains of an Etruscan necropolis (Poggino) that was used from late 7th to late 6th century B.C....

Der Chianti Skulpturenpark, eine Dauerausstellung zeitgenössischer Skulpturen, entstand aus einer Privatinitiative der Eheleute Giadrossi, beide Kunstliebhaber. Die Hauptcharakteristik des 2004 eingeweihten Parks ist die Integration von Kunst und Natur. Jeder Künstler hat zunächst den Wald besichtigt und erst im Anschluss einen Vorschlag für den gewählten Ort erstellt. Das Zusammenspiel der Kunstwerke mit dem Wald, den Geräuschen, den Farben und dem Licht ist perfekt. In der Tat dominieren die vom Menschen geschaffenen Werke hier nicht über die Natur, sondern beziehen sie ein, bilden eine Harmonie. Im Parkinneren befindet sich ein Amphitheater, in dem den Besuchern im Juli und August ein abwechslungsreiches Konzertprogramm geboten wird.

Der Rosengarten befindet sich in Cavriglia. Mit seinen über 7000 verschiedenen Rosenarten gilt er als der größte private Rosengarten der Welt, doch die Sammlung wächst mit jedem Jahr stetig an. Um die Magie dieses Ortes vollständig in sich aufsaugen zu können, ist es empfehlenswert, zu mehreren Zeitpunkten im Jahr vorbeizuschauen, um die Blütezeiten der jeweiligen Arten abzupassen. Zudem finden immer wieder außergewöhnliche Veranstaltungen im Rosengarten statt: Gedichtlesungen und botanische Vorträge, die in dieser einzigartigen Umgebung eine ganz eigene Atmosphäre entfalten.

Saltalbero ist eine Oase der Ruhe inmitten der Natur inmitten wunderschöner Wiesen und eines wunderschönen Waldes mit Blick auf das Ombrone River Valley. Sie können Spaß mit den Akrobatikkursen auf den Bäumen haben und einen Tag mit Freunden auf der großen Fläche verbringen, die mit Spielen auf dem Boden, Picknicks oder einfach zum Entspannen ausgestattet ist.

Ein paar Kilometer von Siena entfernt entwickelt sich die Montagnola Senese, eines der wichtigsten Karstgebiete Italiens. Es sind ungefähr neunzig Höhlen bekannt, von denen einige auf internationaler Ebene von wissenschaftlicher Bedeutung sind, aber aus speläologischer Sicht ist das Gebiet noch nicht gut bekannt. Hier sind einige der interessantesten Höhlen: Grotta del Chiostraccio, Grotta Chioma di Berenice, Grotta dei Pozzoni, Grotta dell'Ugola, Grotta del Profondo....

Für diejenigen, die gerne angeln, gibt es im Chianti mehrere Seen Sportfischen inmitten der toskanischen Landschaft. Entspannend im Schatten oder beim Sonnenbaden im Liegestuhl am See; falls Sie es wollen Sie können auch Sportfischen betreiben und versuchen, einen zu fangen Karpfen, Forelle oder andere Fischarten.
